Exploring Your Passion–and Putting it to Work

Passions Workshop

Scottsdale Job Network will be offering a special workshop for job seekers, Exploring Your Passion–and Putting it to Work, on Tues, April 29 at Temple Chai. The program runs from 9 AM-4 PM and has a limited enrollment of 30 participants.

“Passions,” as we often refer to it, was created and has been presented to job seekers for several years by SJN Board Member and Facilitator, Maria Wojtczak. Read about the focus of the workshop:

Job seekers often limit themselves to what they “have always done” because it was the career that defined them for many years. They tend to lose sight of their many gifts, interests, strengths, and wealth of skills they developed through their life experience. This workshop utilizes proven tools to help individuals identify their strengths, talents and preferences – what they’re basically good at and really enjoy doing! and can prove to be useful in opening up job search options.

Because of the need to purchase booklets, binders and printed materials, this workshop has a fee of $25.

For now, the need is for admin support to:

set up a system for taking reservations and payments (We are looking into the internet tools to take reservations and payments via PayPal.)

respond to inquiries about the program

help Maria set up the room on the day of the event (Putting out books, props, materials, flyers–NOT setting up the tables)

What does it cost to participate?

We do not require membership dues or meeting fees to allow everyone who is in job transition to be able to participate. Since our program is unfunded, we suggest that participants make a voluntary donation of $5 per meeting. When we have an all-day workshop, we do need to pass the costs along to participants.

Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday mornings:

9-9:30 Networking, resume reviews, contact with recruiters

9:30 Welcome, announcements, introductions

10:00 Speaker begins

11:15 Speaker ends, feedback collected

Networking continues until 11:30

We meet at and use space provided by Temple Chai, 4645 East Marilyn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032-4839. Temple Chai is located just east of the Piestawa Freeway (Route 51) and South & West of the loop 101 (PIMA FREEWAY SECTION). Marilyn Road is on the west side of Tatum Blvd. between Thunderbird and Greenway Roads

A realistic view of interviews.

Join us on Tuesday April 1, 2008 as we roll out the fifth session of the SJN CURRICULUM on the Job Search Process.

Join us when Jim O’Hara, founding partners and principal officers of Kellen James and member of the SJN Curriculum Development Committee, delivers a presentation that will take you through the steps of the interviewing process!

Jim O’Hara will address common misunderstandings about interviews de-mystifying the interview process and calming your concerns. Jim will explain the types of interviews you may face and help you prepare to answer questions the interviewer will ask.

Jim O’Hara is one of the founding partners and principal officers of Kellen James http://www.kellenjames.com/ and is responsible for the strategic direction of the firm and the management of significant consulting assignments. Recognized as an authority on sales and marketing management, Jim has held executive level assignments for both national and international firms encompassing a twenty-five year corporate career. Jim earned his undergraduate degree from the The Citadel and his MBA from Pepperdine University. He has been involved in reengineering, restructuring and merging several national sales organizations and has been recognized for his leadership and professionalism.
